Mankind Is Obsolete

Do you remember No Doubt or Hole? Can you go further back in time to Blondie or Fleetwood Mac? The great ones seem to be far and few in-between. So, when you get this or that bands' CD or tape, vinyl or 8-track, you got a piece of musical gold. Mankind Is Obsolete in an undiscovered, piece of precious metal that encompasses a genius for compelling compositions, masked behind a girl and her boys, a.k.a. female-fronted bands.

Remix, Reverse, Repeat

So, let's just say I was left alone with a few of MKIO's brand new remixes for Manic Recession, and if you think they are the same as Mankind Is Obsolete previous EP albums, you're dead wrong. The remixes are like the Red Bull in my Jagermeister Bombs that got me drunk last night. Whoever saw gold in MKIO's remixes is a genius in my book. The Los Angeles based Mankind Is Obsolete has a lot of friends in small places. The friends' have their own little piece of the world where they cultivated the phenomenal remixes, in sunny rooms, by computerized sound boards, main-framed by colorful visions of how they think MKIO should sound when they hear the voice of Natasha Cox coming out of their studio monitors.

Golden Gadgets

Armed with nothing but the latest in high-tech gadgets, MKIO uses sophisticated mixing boards for in-house, studio, recording sessions. When they are touring or laying back at a club in LA doing a show, Mankind Is Obsolete paints a rainbow ending at musical gold.

MKIO and friends have been playing around with this remix album for years, but now they have a closet full of songs that was scarfed up by sound mixers and synthesizers. Mankind has been sitting on this time-bomb waiting for the right time to release Manic Recession.

Lyrics and Rolling Papers

Right on the heals of MKIO's early summer of '010 remix album came a US tour opening for the indescribable Android Lust. In the lateness of summer, the Animalia Tour zig-zagged allover the states, and even busted down the border gates for a stop in Toronto, Canada. With Jon Siren on the drum kit, Gorden Bash beating his bass, Scott Landes picking at the strings, all the while Natasha Cox melts the boys' hearts, this kaleidoscopic menagerie cements "angelic" and "vicious" together into a soup that will feed your soul. After they are done robbing you of your brain cells, you feel like your always tilted world understands MKIO's lyrics, and maybe your own journey through the day-to-day jungle we all live in a little bit more.

Is MKIO's music enjoyable for your listening ears?

  • Rock out, or on!
  • This isn't for me.
  • I come from another planet, I do not know.
